Pencoed Playing Fields

Pencoed RFC requested assistance with investigating the possibility of installing a ramp to enable individuals with reduced mobility to access the sports field, for both spectating and participating in rugby at Pencoed Playing Fields.  The Reach team are supporting the club by commissioning an accessibility audit, which will inform them of their options to develop more user-friendly access and identify potential funders to assist with the costs of landscape work and ramp installation.

The purpose of an access audit is to assess how well the site performs in terms of access and ease of use by a wide range of potential users, including disabled people. The audit provides a certain “snapshot” of a building at one point in its life. As the starting point of an ongoing access action plan, it can be used to highlight areas for improvement as well as a general risk assessment.

The access audit determined that there were various recommendations to improve access to the site and provided an action plan of the urgency of these recommendations.

Pencoed RFC are able to use this report to approach Capital funders to secure funding for the identified improvements.
